School Holidays

School Holidays are nearly here.

A Question For Families: How Did You Spend Your Holidays?

This blog post is for families and anyone else who would like to comment!

In Victoria, we only have one more week of school left before the holidays and it has been a very busy term.
We will all be looking forward to relaxing and recharging before the start of another busy Term.

How did you spend your holidays when you went to school?

What has been your favourite holiday?

Have you ever travelled overseas to far and interesting places?

What have you got in mind to do this coming holiday?

Our Weather Reports

We are looking at the weather this term in Grade 1/2W. We first spent some time talking about what we already knew about the weather and making a mind map of what we already knew. Then we thought about what we wanted to investigate as our project.

Today we looked at different types of weather and made a brief weather report.

Please lick on the link below to listen to our reports.

Books in Homes

At school we have been very lucky to participate in the Books In Homes initiative. This is a not-for-profit charity that improves literacy skills for children and families throughout Australia. We were able to choose three books that we would like to own and read of course. How great is that!

Today we had a special assembly and the books were presented to us by Wrestling For Rotary. These famous Wrestlers are on tour from America and spoke to us about the importance of exercising our brain as well as our body. Then the wrestlers came into our classroom and spoke about their profession.

Our Grade had Jimmy Yang visit our class. How lucky were we! He signed our books and our hands and showed us his wrestling moves.

Have a look at the video below of us reading the books we received from Books In Homes.

Making Better Choices

At Lightning Reef we celebrate Making Better Choices.

Last term our focus was “On time and On task’ and it was very successful with all of the P-2 team visiting Lake Weroona for a picnic and a walk around the lake.

This Term our focus has been on “Following instructions the first time’.

The Making Better Choices celebration is coming up on June 15th and we will be playing lots of ‘Minute to Win It’ games in the bubble.
In the afternoon there will also be a concert with Skip. It’s going to be a great day of celebrating.
What game will you decide to participate in?

Have you played Minute to win it before?

Look at the videos below to see some of the activities on offer.
